Effects of non-chemical weed and nutrient management on soil available nutrient, uptake, micronutrients, and nutrient balance in organic brinjal production systems (Solanum melongena L.)

The present experiment entitled “Development of organic farming package for brinjal (Solanum melongena L.)” was conducted during kharif season the year 2017 and 2018 at Research Farm Post Graduate Institute, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Dist. Ahmednagar, Maharashtra (India). laid out in strip plot design with three replications. main treatments were applied to comprised non-chemical weed control modules viz. Gliricidia leaf mulching @ 5 t ha-1, Biodegradable mulch (soybean straw) Mechanical (hoeing) intercultivation pulling weeds, Control -Weedy check, Weed free (Hand weedings 15 days interval). Different nutrients sources biofertilizers i.e. Azospirillum PSB as a (1:1) 500 g 10 lit-1) sub which seven viz., 100% RDN through FYM biofertilizers, vermicompost neem cake 50% each 1/3 N FYM, biofertilizers. Total nutrient uptake available nitrogen, phosphorus potassium significantly higher due application VC crop both years experimentation. At end two seasons, micronutrients slightly influenced different sources. results indicated that cultivation keeping up 80 after transplanting by adapting five hand weeding (at an interval days) or four mechanical weeds between rows (20 from 20 transplanting) 50 per cent nitrogen kg ha-1) farmyard manure (Azospirillum PSB) along plant protection measures found suitable productivity sustaining soil health.
